Democrats Attempt to Create New Classes of Entitled Americans

After the $2.2 trillion stimulus a little over a month ago, America hasn't seen a real flattening of the curve, as they would have hoped for, and thus the economy is still largely shut down. This has caused politicians to float an idea of another stimulus package. Though the process here with government spending starts in the House of Representatives, which has a majority of liberal Democrats, so before the process can really get underway, we see partisanship rearing its ugly head yet again, this time dealing with grants.

A "grant"can be defined in a few ways, particularly in the context of government giving money out, and so we actually saw around $1 trillion in grants given out to businesses, large and small, with the last round of stimulus. A lot of people in mainstream society who aren't partisan are wondering why government cannot simply fund the previous stimulus package with another $2.2 trillion, questioning why Democrats are pushing through a $3 trillion bill now that is nothing at all like the first round of spending.

The objective answers to these questions are never easy to write about, as it always comes across as political and people only tend to take away the messages that suit their political interests. Hence CNN, CBC, Fox, ABC, etc, actually thriving as partisan corporations. Though the objective facts of the situation are pretty clear: Democrats were unsatisfied with who received the grants in the last round of stimulus spending. According to Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and other ranking Democrats, Democratic donors and lobbyists are struggling as much as everyday Americans and thus need government grants funded by the taxpayer.

Yes, that fact is printed correctly. In what Pelosi has dubbed the "HEROES Act," hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer-funded stimulus money will be given to large corporate Democratic donors and lobbying organizations. The real kicker: Only lobbyists for Democratic causes are mentioned as needing to receive grants. The logic behind all this, according to Democrats, is that "lobbying groups are businesses." According to some critics, this is a political play to paint the Republican opposition as against relief for Americans heading into the election, as Democrats know for a fact that a Republican Majority Senate will never pass such a bill.

Whether that's actually the case or not, what is clear is that Democrats have loaded down a huge spending package, with $800 billion in extra spending, that offers Americans about the same level of relief as the last bill. The extra money is for Democratic corporations, lobbying groups, and undocumented residents. Overall, the bill features nearly an extra trillion dollars of spending that will in no way end up helping the American economy, according to critics, but rather will end up helping Democrats grow their political power.

The Objective Nature of Bitter Partisanship

America is so starkly divided among political lines that it's really hard to spot the truth from the propaganda in media today. Though sticking with only the verified facts of this stimulus bill, we see that not much has changed from the first. In the first round of spending, Democrats tried to include provisions that would allow for non-Americans to not only vote in American elections, but also give them same-day, hassle-free registration, where they would not even need a government-issued ID to complete the process. Whether one agrees with this measure or not, any honest person would concede that this sort of inclusion has nothing at all to do with Americans struggling financially during the coronavirus pandemic. So, why was it included?

The "reasons" given depend almost entirely on the source of the news. This only goes to show just how divided America actually is with these issues. Right now, there's nearly half of the American population out there who wants to give Democratic lobbyists small business loans. Not necessarily because they believe they need them, or know anything about the topic at all, but rather because it's what their political party wants. Where former tragedies like 9/11 brought unity to the nation, and the partisanship was put on hold for a while, the Covid-19 crises is actually driving a much larger wedge through the nation.

As of right now, Republicans claim that the bill has no chance of passing. Time will tell what Democrats do to adjust this spending package, as millions of Americans are still in need of relief.
